Even though Sir Ridley Scott is a famous english film director and producer, he started his career by creating short films. Scott is known for his atmospheric, highly concentrated visual style, which has influenced many directors. Though his films range widely in setting and period, they frequently showcase memorable imagery of urban environments.
His short film "boy and bicycle" is filmed in the streets of a small English Industrial town, it is a simple but effective short sequence, that ttys to convey to the audience the different emotions that this one boy is feeling throughout the duration of the sequence.
This is his first film that he ever shot, the film is significant in that it features a number of visual elements that would become motifs of Scotts work.

The Duellists in 1997 marked Ridley Scott's first feature as director. Shot in Europe, it was nominated for the main prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and won an award for best film. The Duellists had limited commercial impact internationally. Set during the Napoleonic Wars, it follows two French Hussar officers, D'Hubert and Feraud whose quarrel over an initially minor incident turns into a bitter extended feud spanning fifteen years, interwoven with the larger conflict that provides its backdrop. The film has been acclaimed for providing a historically authentic portrayal of Napoleonic uniforms and military conduct.
Scott's film Gladiator in 2000 proved to be one of his biggest critical and commercial successes to date. It won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor, for the film's star Russell Crowe.
The reason Scott is my inspiration is because of his first film, "the boy and bicycle" this is my inspiration because it works with the theme of identity, this is because it follows one boy and through out the 27 minutes we are given an onsite into his life, and are shown that he has an individual identity, and unlike what i am going to do, he is exploring his identity where as in social media we lack the need to explore our own identity.

In 1968, Ridley Scott and Tony Scott created a film and television advertising commercials Production Company in the United Kingdom where they, and other directors, could create ground breaking commercials.
Among the prestigious awards RSA Films has garnered, is the Emmy Award for Best Commercial Nike Move and the announcement in TV Guide that Ridley Scott’s 1984 Apple Computer spot was voted the Best Commercial of All-Time.
